Vaccinations & Preventative Care

Preventative care is the foundation of your pet’s long-term health. I offer personalised plans to protect your animals from preventable diseases that are especially common in our region. This includes vaccinations and parasite control — all tailored to your pet’s age, lifestyle, and individual needs.

Titre Testing

For owners who would like to tailor their animals vaccination protocol based on their individual immunity levels, I offer Titre Testing — a simple in-home blood test that checks your pet’s current immunity against diseases like Parvovirus, Distemper, and Hepatitis.

This is a great option for:

  • Pets who’ve had vaccine reactions in the past

  • Senior pets with an unclear vaccination history

  • Owners who want to minimise exposure to vaccines

Titre testing gives us a clearer picture of your pet’s immune status and helps us build a vaccine schedule that’s based on science, not assumption.

Vaccinations

Vaccinations play a vital role in your pet’s preventative care and overall wellbeing. This is especially important for young animals as their maternal antibodies begin to wear off. In the Pilbara, where diseases like Parvovirus are unfortunately quite common, early protection is essential.

I provide a full schedule of vaccinations for dogs, cats, and rabbits — including both core and non-core vaccines depending on your pet’s environment and risk factors.

As your pet grows, we move to an adult vaccination plan, which is typically given annually alongside a general health check. These yearly visits also give me the opportunity to monitor your pet’s overall wellbeing and catch any potential issues early.

Parasite Control

-Oral, Topical, and Injectable Options

Parasites are more than just a nuisance — they can cause serious health issues and are common in our region. I help you manage and prevent infestations from ticks, intestinal worms, and heartworm with options that fit your pet’s lifestyle.

I offer a full range of oral, topical, and injectable preventatives, and I’ll work with you to choose the best products based on:

  • Your pet’s species, size, and breed

  • Their age and overall health

  • How much time they spend outdoors or around other animals

  • Any previous sensitivities or reactions

Preventative treatment is always safer and more effective than dealing with an active infestation. Together, we’ll set up a simple, practical plan to keep your pet protected all year round.

FAQ

  • It depends on their age, health, and previous vaccination history. Puppies and kittens need a series of initial vaccines, followed by annual boosters. For adult pets, I usually recommend yearly health checks and vaccinations, though titre testing may allow us to adjust that schedule.

  • A titre test measures your pet’s current immunity levels against certain diseases. It helps me determine if your pet still has adequate protection or if a booster is needed.

It doesn’t replace vaccines but can reduce unnecessary ones if your pet is already protected.

  • In this region, ticks, heartworm, and intestinal worms are all common concerns.

Preventative treatment is important year-round. I’ll recommend a combination of products that best suit your pet and your environment.

  • Most pets tolerate them well, but mild side effects like a little tiredness or tenderness at the injection site can happen. If your pet has a history of reactions, I’ll discuss safer options or alternatives like titre testing or staggered treatments.

  • Yes — most preventative care, including vaccinations, parasite treatments, and titre testing, can be done in the comfort of your home.

It’s less stressful for your pet and more convenient for you.
