Senior Pet Care
Life with our pets unfolds in chapters. It begins with the adorable puppy or kitten stage, followed by the cheeky toddler years and the rebellious teenage phase. Those days of chewed-up toys and scratched armchairs pass in the blink of an eye—and suddenly, we notice grey whiskers and slower steps. As your pet enters the geriatric chapter, I’m here to support you both with tailored prophylactic (disease prevention) and palliative care.
From the comfort of your home, I offer geriatric wellness checks, including blood and urine testing to screen for underlying health issues. These samples are sent to VetNostics Pathology Laboratory for analysis.
Once I understand how your pet is ageing, I can create a personalised care plan to manage any conditions and ensure they remain comfortable and pain-free in their twilight years.
Peaceful Goodbyes
This is, without doubt, the hardest chapter of loving an animal—and of being a vet. Saying goodbye.
I believe in making this moment as peaceful and meaningful as possible. I’m available to discuss your personal wishes, including the option of choosing a special location for the farewell.
A peaceful goodbye means your pet will be gently sedated before the final moment, ensuring they feel no pain or fear. This allows everyone to be calm, present, and fully in the moment.
I truly believe in the sentiment, “be with them to the end.” I encourage families to involve children and other pets in the process, so everyone has the chance to say goodbye and begin to grieve together.
I’ll take care of all aftercare arrangements, including transport to Lawnswood Pet Cremation and options for private or group cremation, handled with the utmost respect and compassion.
